A martial arts fundraiser for an Andover girl diagnosed with a brain tumour will take place in the Chantry Centre between 11am and 3pm tomorrow.

The shopping centre will host demonstrations and taster sessions from Martial Arts World experts in Andover, and their ‘Little Ninja’ children’s group, to raise much needed funds for Faith Sharpe, 5, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor in her brain stem.

Faith, has been a member of the Martial Arts World ‘Little Ninjas’ and The MAW Team will be liaising with members of the public and in addition to providing donations for Faith we will be holding a free prize draw - this provides anyone who enters the opportunity to win complimentary martial art tuition.

Laura, Faith’s mother, has been working with local groups to raise funds for Faith.

Initially money was collected for some ‘once in a lifetime’ treats for Faith and the family, including a trip to Lapland sponsored by The Chantry Shopping Centre.

The family, have now identified some potentially life saving treatment being developed for children with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma brain tumours by professor Steven Gill at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Though the science is ready the funding is not available and Laura and the family family are now hoping to raise £45,000 for Faith to receive this revolutionary treatment.

“Laura and the family have already been overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people, both friends and strangers,” says Steve Cotney, Chantry Centre manager.

“We hope that by bringing the fundraising to the heart of Andover we can help raise even more vital cash.”

Faith and her family will be attending the event and watching the “Little Ninjas” demonstration at 11am.

On hand will be a formidable line up of martial arts masters from MAW not only highlighting the skills and techniques of their art but also encouraging the public to support the cause.
