A HOUSING developer has submitted plans for 100 new homes in North West Hampshire.

David Wilson Homes have lodged an outline planning application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to build the properties on land between Winchester Road and Micheldever Road in Whitchurch.

The site, which surrounds both Testbourne School fields and Longmeadow Sports Club, will be accessed through Winchester Road and will contain 25 ‘affordable homes’.

This includes six flats, 11 two bedroom properties, seven three bedroom houses and one four bedroom home.

Meanwhile the remaining 75 market homes will primarily consist of four or more bedroom houses, of which there will be 26.

Currently the 12 hectare site is used for agricultural purposes and for one residential property, known as 123 Winchester Road.

If plans are rubber stamped by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council the current property will be demolished and used as the main access point to the site.

Alongside the homes, it is also proposed that the development includes open space such as recreational facilities.

Proposals also include space for 76 car parking spots, coach access and parent drop-off.

Originally the plan was to build 200 homes on the site but following consultation with the council, and a public consultation in September, the developer opted for to halve the housing number.

The planning document reads: “Officers were consulted on a proposal for 200 dwellings and a full planning application.

“The proposal was considered by officers to be potentially acceptable under the National Planning Policy Framework.”

“Whilst this application is for a much smaller development, much of the advice provided by officers is still relevant.”
