A POPULAR town centre shop has been raided by burglars who "must have left the scene covered in powder" after setting off the fire extinguishers.
A window was smashed at Tip Top Balloons on Union Street and the culprits made off with £980.
It happened between 6.30pm on Sunday, March 15 and 6.30am on Monday, March 16.
Hardworking owner Dave Stanbridge said: "They set off the fire extinguishers so must have been covered in powder when they left.
"It would have been all over their hair, clothes, absolutely everywhere, it took two of us nine hours to clear up. They wrecked the upstairs."
Witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting the reference 44150089188.
