Police are asking people to report suspicious activity after mysterious chalk marks have been found on homes, garages and garden walls.

This comes after officers have received reports of chalk circles and marks being left on properties in the Larkhill and Amesbury areas.

Reports were also received of marks on homes in St Georges Close and Lahore Close in Tidworth recently.

Wiltshire police are urging people to be on their guard as similar markings have been used by thieves in the past to identify properties to steal from.

PCSO Will Todd said: "We would like members of the public to be vigilant and aware of any suspicious markings and take the usual precautions with their property.

"Homeowners are urged to mark valuables with security marking, take photographs of jewellery, china and other valuable items, record serial numbers of electrical goods, computers, and have pets micro-chipped. Always ensure that your doors and windows are locked at all times and be aware of strangers paying attention to your neighbours property. If you see someone acting suspiciously, report it immediately."

Anyone with any information should call police on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
