POLICE have arrested a man after he was caught with a “large amount” of Class A drugs on the A34.

Road Traffic officers detained the 33 year-old after they stopped and searched his vehicle near Tothill Services, at 1.15pm on Friday, 23 January.

On inspection, Police discovered a large amount of Cocaine and Ecstasy in the car – both of which are deemed as Class A drugs in England.

The man, who is from Southampton, was arrested for intent to supply Class A drugs and was later bailed until March 30, pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Lyndon Barrett from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Illegal drugs have a devastating impact on our local communities.

“Whenever possible we will take proactive measures to disrupt individuals bringing illegal drugs into Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.”
