LUDGERSHALL’S fallen soldiers will be commemorated with a Great War exhibition over the remembrance weekend.

The two-day event will begin at 10.30am on Saturday, 8 November, with the unveiling and dedication of a Great War commemorative collage, made by a local sewing group, which will be hung in the Memorial Hall.

Ronald McEvoy, grandson of James McEvoy, killed in action at the Battle of Aisne on 13 September, 1914, will unveil the collage, which will then be blessed by the Rev Claire Maxim.

First World War memorabilia will be on display, along with photographs and artwork, including lithographs from the lines.

To preserve the memory of the 32 men named on Ludgershall War Memorial, a book has been published and will be on sale, giving detailed information about them and the area’s military connections.

On the Saturday there will be singing of wartime songs at 11am and 2pm, along with refreshments and a raffle over the two days.

The exhibition will be open between 10am and 4pm on the Saturday and between 11.30am and 2pm on the Sunday.

Entry is free and all proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion.
