A NUMBER of pigs and piglets were killed in a farm fire in Great Shoddesdon last Saturday.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called to the blaze at the farm in Andover Road at 10.52am on Saturday 6 September.

Fire crews from Andover, Stockbridge and Ludgershall spent nearly three hours at the scene along with a water carrier from Pewsey.

Compressed air foam jets and two hose reels were used by 24 firefighters to put out the fire in the single storey building.

The outbuilding housing the pigs was completely damaged by the fire but the flames did not spread any further.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
