A ZIPLINE in Overton that has fallen into a state of disrepair could be fixed in the coming weeks.

Overton parish councillors agreed in a meeting that £2,750 should be made available to repair the zipline at Edward Kersley Playing Field before the start of the school holidays.

The cost of replacing it was also discussed, but was quoted as £10,000, which all councillors felt was far too much.

Cllr Peter Baker said: “The cost of that is ginormous.

“The posts are about 10ft high. How can they justify all that money?”

He also questioned why the zipline needs repair.

Cllr Baker added: “Why, after a short time, have they gone rotten?

“If it was made of decent oak the legs should not become free.”
