AN Andover community project hopes to open this year.
Breakers Community Project aims to reopen Stryx, above Wilkinson’s in Bridge Street, as a place for local people to socialise.
And volunteers hope to be in the former bowling alley in the next couple of months for fundraisers, which should bring in the final £13,000 the project needs.
The club, which would provide a space for young people and community projects to meet, would then officially open in November.
Anji Gillies, who came up with the idea to relaunch Breakers after a rise in the number of young suicides in the town, said: “We are still having a lot of problems with people not thinking it’s going to happen. There are only so many times we can say we have got the money set aside.
“We have got enough to get everything up and running apart from the bowling side so that we can get in there for the fundraisers.”
