AN Andover resident has joined her sister in the 100 club after celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends.

Nellie Tidy celebrated the milestone with a party at Millway House near Weyhill, 18 months after her older sister Alice reached her own landmark year.

Nellie was born on 24 June 1914 in Camberwell in London before the outbreak of the First World War, growing up with her three sisters and brother.

A week before D-Day Nellie married George and moved into the family home in Marylebone before the pair moved down to Andover. Nellie worked at Imperial Tobacco up until her retirement and lived at Camelot Close and Hepworth Close in the town.

Nellie is a big fan of Emmerdale and later became a big fan of Arsenal Football Club, keeping and sending cuttings of their matches to family members.

Nellie’s family thanked all who came to her party and the staff at Millway for their continued care and support.
