The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire — Pamper Day

LAST month the Local MP Sir George Young and the Mayor of Test Valley Borough Council Jan Lovell formally opened a ‘Pamper Day’ for carers at the Masonic Hall in East Street Andover.

The ‘Pamper Day’ and buffet lunch was organised by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire for carers, The purpose of this event was to celebrate ‘Carers’ Week’ which highlights the vital contribution made by carers to their families and communities in providing unpaid care for someone who is ill, frail or disabled. The ‘Pamper Day’ offered carers some respite from their caring role and an opportunity to be pampered by one of the seven therapists that offered their services on the day. Carers could choose from a variety of mini beauty treatments and participate in making cards.

Sir George paid tribute to the six million carers who between them, saved tax payers £119 billion a year. He added: “We are really lucky to have the Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire operating from Andover War Memorial Hospital.”

Kerry Hearsey, Chief Executive Officer of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire said, “I am delighted that so many carers were able to attend our event today and would like to thank Sir George and the Mayor of Test Valley Jan Lovell for attending. Caring can be a very rewarding experience, but it can also be very demanding. That’s why it’s always a pleasure and joy to give something back to carers as they give so much, day in and day out.”

The carers thoroughly enjoyed their day and there was a very big thank you to all the staff and volunteers for helping to make the day a happy one.
