Lighting up the town

Basingstoke Gazette: Lighting up the town Lighting up the town

LOCAL MP Sir George Young was on hand last week to officially present a special award to an Andover resident on behalf of Prime Minister David Cameron.

As reported in last week’s Andover Advertiser, local Attitude of Gratitude campaigner Manuela Wahnon has received a Point of Light volunteering award for her commitment to clearing up her community.

On handing over the award to Manuela, MP Sir George Young said: “I think we can all bask in Manuela’s deserved glory.

“This is a real tribute to the town and I was very proud to give this award on behalf of the Prime Minister.”

Manuela added: “This award didn’t feel real until it was presented to me by Sir George. When I was told the news at first I thought they were talking about Cllr Ian Carr’s Cabinet at Test Valley Borough Council, not David Cameron’s!”
