TWO sisters who wanted to say thank you to the air ambulance service that airlifted their father to hospital in an emergency, collected more than £1,700 in a six-hour fundraising event at Tidworth’s Royal British Legion Club.

Sadly, their dad, 54-year-old Ali Young, died in June 2012 as a result of the medical emergency which involved a burst ulcer.

He has continued to be fondly remembered by many people in the area – including many in Ludgershall, where he lived until 18 years ago.

Daughter Amy Young, 32, of Tidworth, said: “My father worked as a security guard for many years, and was also a well-known Portsmouth supporter – ‘Pompey Ali’.

“We organised something last year and wanted to do so again this year.

“The event on Saturday was really busy and well supported with many stalls and lots of people. There was even a pair of stocks!”

Thanks to the good attendance and support, Amy and Rachel will shortly be presenting the Thruxton-based air ambulance with a cheque for £1,730.
