VILLAGERS celebrated the fruits of their fundraising with a coffee morning.

Bunting hung outside Upper Clatford Village Hall on Thursday, 12 June, for its weekly morning coffee shop, which also celebrated the arrival of a new commercial dishwasher.

Test Valley borough councillors Maureen Flood and Graham Stallard, and Hampshire county councillor Andrew Gibson, joined in to mark the occasion.

Before a celebratory cake was cut, secretary of the village hall management committee Sally Spencer thanked the borough and county councillors, who had given grants of £500 each to put towards the dishwasher.

The Upper Clatford branch of the WI also donated £228.60 from its Christmas sale last December.

Sally said: “Now the dishwasher is in place and working, a cycle can be completed in three minutes and washing up for a catered event in the hall can be done in no time.”

The coffee shop, which runs every Thursday from 10am to 11.30am, is an opportunity for people to meet up for a chat.

Almost all of the money raised since the coffee shop started in 2001 has been given back to the village hall.
