Bank staff take leap for trust
6:00am Sunday 22nd June 2014 in News
ANDOVER workers leapt from an aeroplane at 12,000ft to raise funds for people with disabilities.
Lloyds banking employees Lucy Balcer and Danielle Zapitis took part in the sponsored skydive for Enham Trust.
The duo was inspired to take on the challenge by Shaun Barker – a resident of Enham Trust who, despite being a wheelchair user, is doing a sponsored skydive in August.
Lucy said: “I was very nervous beforehand, but if Shaun can do it so can I.
“Once I was in the plane all the nerves went and I really enjoyed the experience.”
Shaun went along to Old Sarum airfield to watch the women take to the skies in near-perfect weather conditions.
They have already raised £1,800 for the disability charity and hope to pass the £2,000 mark once all the sponsorship money is in.
Shaun, who has lived at Enham Trust for six years, said: “I never thought I could live independently, but Enham has given me so much self- confidence.
“I have a work placement at Simply Health in Andover and produce and present at Radio Enham. Now I want to give something back to the charity.
“Watching Lucy and Danielle was awe-inspiring.
It’s made me completely determined and more excited about my jump.”
Shaun will be jumping in a tandem sky-dive with the Red Devils at Netheravon in August.
