MP Claire Perry has joined the launch of Football United a new campaign by Women’s Aid to reduce the incidence of domestic violence which shockingly rose by 30 per cent in Britain during the last World Cup.

Clubs across the UK have signed the Football United Club Pledge to send a message to supporters that domestic violence is completely unacceptable and Claire met with other MPs and also representatives from Wiltshire Police at the launch event in Westminster.

Claire said: “Like many people I am very much looking forward to the Football World Cup and I hope England have a successful campaign.

“However, I am appalled that domestic violence incidents rose by 30 per cent four years ago. “This is completely unacceptable and I am delighted that organisations from across the UK Football Community have signed the Football United Club Pledge.
