THE Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Romsey will be marking its 15th year of Art in the Garden – an exhibition showcasing the work of artists across the country.

This comes after the Duchess of Cornwall officially opened the centenary border last summer.

The garden features a collection of over 42,000 plants set in 180 acres of rolling Hampshire countryside and will feature award-winning artist Frederic Chevarin’s sculptures. Many Hampshire-based artists will be showing their work, including Cathy Roberts from Winchester.

Some 47 artists have provided 100 sculptures, which are displayed throughout the gardens. The variety of sculptures ranges from abstract to figurative and they are crafted from a diverse range of materials, such as glass, metal and marble.

The exhibition runs until Sunday, 19 October.

Hampshire County Council has been the sole trustee of the gardens since 1977. Council leader Roy Perry said: “Art in the Garden is a popular attraction.

This year’s exhibition will be particularly impressive.”
