AN ANDOVER printer has clocked up 40 years working for the same company.
John Sherwood started working as a printer for RH Technical Industries in Walworth Industrial Estate at the age of 16 and last week celebrated four decades with the company.
John originally started work for Gunn Graphical Industries Ltd following its relocation to Andover from Streatham, London, in 1974.
He started as a trainee litho printer on a Milano Litho machine and remained with the company when it merged with RH Technical Industries Ltd in 1988.
John was then given the opportunity to add to his skill set becoming a screen printer using a Svecia Screen Print Machine.
During his printing years he has produced thousands of printed products – from membrane switches to cricket bat labels. He is also involved in training new members of staff.
John was presented with an engraved silver salver and a magnum of champagne.
He said: “Hopefully I’ll be here for my 50th anniversary, too!”
Director Steve Steckler said: “The average length of service for RHTI employees is 12 years – that includes very long-serving team members like John and also new recruits.”
Director Brian May said: “I feel it is very important to recognise the long and loyal service of our staff as it is something we as a company are immensely proud of.”
