Peppa Pig's global adventure for Lacey
8:00am Tuesday 20th May 2014 in News
AN Andover family is set to send a toy belonging to their late daughter to destinations all over the world in her memory.
Lacey Pearl Leggett died on St Valentine’s Day this year aged just two years old after living with an extremely rare genetic condition which left her dependent on special breathing equipment.
She was believed to be the only person in Europe to suffer from mitochondrial depletion disease in her TK2 gene.
Now her parents, Lisa and Dominic Leggett, are to send off her Peppa Pig toy across the globe on a world adventure to raise awareness of the disease.
Friends and family of the Leggetts have already come forward to offer help and support with possible destinations to feature in the toy’s itinerary including Australia, America, Canada, Dubai and China.
Dominic said: “We will be sending one of Lacey’s toys, which is Peppa Pig, around the world.
“This will be done by people willing to have Peppa sent to them and then take a picture of Peppa in their location and then send on Peppa Pig to the next location.
“I intend to give regular updates of its journey on Facebook as it travels the world and we hope that, at the same time, it will raise awareness and we are looking at making Lacey’s website into a charity to raise money.”
