SNAPS of local people having fun, playing sport and getting fit are needed by the Andover Leisure Centre.

The team is putting together a collection of photos showing ‘fitness through the decades’ and they’d like to hear from people who have pictures taken in local venues or of local people getting fit in years gone by.

They would particularly like to see people using fitness equipment or the leisure centre in previous decades.

“The way people get fit today is very different from the way it was done in the past.

“We’d like to collect together a nostalgic record to show how it’s been done over the years,” said Jess Browning, from Valley Leisure, the charitable trust that operates the Andover Leisure Centre.

“We’d love photos from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s – or before – if people have got them.

“We’d like to see the equipment used and the clothes that were worn.

“And we’d love to hear the stories of what people did and why,” said Jess, who’s the physical activity development manager at the leisure centre.

The best photos will be shared through the Andover Leisure Centre Facebook page and on the Valley Leisure website.

They may also be used in an exhibition at the centre and feature in publicity material.

Photos should be sent by email to Amy Grinstead at agrinstead@valleyleisure.
