TEST Valley Borough Council’s environmental services team cleared almost a ton of waste during the Barton Stacey sparkle day on 27 March.

The council introduced sparkle days in 2012 as part of its ongoing ‘Love Where You Live’ litter campaign.

The initiative targets different locations across Test Valley and aims to add an extra bit of sparkle to roads and villages.

Councillor Graham Stallard, environmental portfolio holder, said: “The team worked hard to clean the village’s roads and footpaths, including part of a 900 yard footpath.

“This work will now be completed by the community payback team.

“The sparkle day team also provided information to more than 300 homes to help residents recycle more of their waste. In addition the team held a recycling roadshow at the village school.

“I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work.

“As a result of their sweeping, trimming, weeding and cleaning the area is now sparkling.”
