HAMPSHIRE council tax payers may have to face higher than inflation increases in tax to fund the fire service in the medium term.
Members of the fire authority’s finance committee have been told that their budget forecast in 2016/17 and 2017/18 is based on council tax rises of 3 per cent a year. The inflation rate in the UK is currently below 2 per cent and falling.
