THE Anton Junior School’s ‘five star’ restaurant opened its doors for its annual A Word event.
The Year 6 children worked with executive chef from Lainston House, Andy McKenzie and Raz Ali, restaurant owner of Quay 15 Southampton to prepare, cook and serve a four-course meal for their parents.
“It was a brilliant evening and I really enjoyed working with Andy and Raz, the chefs. I was one of the dessert chefs and prepared chocolate tarts with cream on the top” said Caitlyn Styles- Nicel.
“We dressed up really poshly and had to wear a white top and black skirt or trousers and it was really important that we had our hair tied back too. I really enjoyed the experience.”
Year 6 teacher Bree House said: “The event is really important for the children because it gives them a taste of what it is like to work in a real-life kitchen.
“You see children become increasingly confident throughout the evening as they grow into their roles.”
Bree also extended thanks to The Quality Hotel who donated the table cloths and napkins for the event and Riverford Organic who provided some vegetables.
