TWO local charities, Andover Young Carers and Hurstbourne Tarrant Development Fund, will benefit from money raised in the Hurstbourne 5 mile multiterrain race and fun run on Saturday, 26 April.

Runners of all abilities will race through woods and farmland for trophies, prizes and a special award for the first resident of Hurstbourne Tarrant or Ibthorpe and the first to conquer Hurstbourne Hill.

The race, which takes in one of north Hampshire’s steepest hills, is billed as five miles’ worth of fun, stunning scenery and a lot of mud.

With a 1,243ft ascent over the course, the race is only 57ft short of the 1,300ft of total climbs required in a category ‘A’ fell race.

Race organiser Greg England said: “If you fancy stretching your legs and supporting great local causes, this run is for definitely you.

“Last year, 100 per cent of entrants said they’d recommend it and do it again.”

Andover Young Carers executive Sarah Affleck said “We are delighted to be chosen for support for a consecutive year. Such local and committed support enables us to continue delivering vital services for children who have a caring responsibility and their families to achieve their potential.

“We want to thank all the runners, supporters and organisers for this race and wish all those taking part muddy luck.”
