A MONXTON volunteer has headed off to Bangladesh thanks to a £500 grant.
The Andover group of the Catenian Association presented the cheque to Emily Bacon, of Chalk Pit Lane, who flew out last month to join the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) programme.
Emily will be working to help provide clean water in the remote villages of Chitagong Province in South East Bangladesh and will be living among the local people while she carries out the task.
Emily, who sat her A-level examinations at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, will follow her gap year by studying at either Oxford or London Westminster university.
