Off-road warning

First published in News

OFF-road motorcyclists making illegal use of bridleways, byways and footpaths across eastern Salisbury Plain have been told they will be dealt with ‘robustly’ by police.

Police have seized two motorcycles in an operation in Newton Tony and are looking for more as the bikers cause great distress and annoyance to walkers, horse riders, cyclists and dog walkers alike.

PC Ivor Noyce said: “Riding a motorcycle on footpaths and bridleways is against the law, likewise any motorcycle being ridden on a byway or highway requires the rider to have the appropriate driving licence, the motorcycle to be taxed and have a current MOT with correct insurance.”

Anyone planning to go offroading in any vehicle should make themselves aware of the law and plan their route accordingly.
