SUPER volunteer Denise Starr has been celebrating after reaching 25 years of volunteering at Andover Library.

Denise began her work back in 1989 and has become an integral part of the group ensuring the smooth running of the library.

Andover library’s assistant manager Janet Brady said: “Denise makes a massive contribution here, she tackles whatever we ask her to do, and never complains.

“She’s very hard working, but we still manage to have a lot of laughs!”

Denise lives in one of the disability charity Enham Trust’s residential homes at Enham Alamein and expressed her love for the job, she said:"I’m potty about books and words.

“I write a bit of poetry and absolutely love volunteering here. Everyone I work with is absolutely wonderful.”

She was joined by Enham Trust’s work placements co-ordinator Chris Johnn, their care home manager Lynne Hewitt, and her library colleagues for a presentation of flowers, a gift voucher and a special certificate marking her quarter century volunteering achievement.

Chris Johnn added: “Denise’s enthusiasm for her placement has never faltered in 25 years.

“She loves her work and it is a major part of her life.

“She is a real example to the 61 others we support in voluntary work placements, within Enham and the community.”
