NAOMI House and Jacksplace have just launched a £4m appeal to refurbish the local children’s hospice.
The Caterpillar Appeal was unveiled at the hospice on Monday by Naomi House chairman David Holmes CBE and appeal patron and broadcaster Alastair Stewart OBE.
Plans include major building works at the hospice at Sutton Scotney and the installation of advanced technological equipment to ensure that the care environment on offer to families is the best that it can be.
Speaking at the launch Mr Stewart said: “Since 1997 some of the equipment has got a bit old.
“It’s all about giving the best possible facilities to the folk having the worst possible time.”
The refurbishment will include environmentally friendly features and a new building management system, saving £100,000 a year.
A new spiritual area with roof terrace and garden, a bridge linking Naomi House and Jacksplace, a modern kitchen and dining area and bigger bedrooms are all included in the refurbishment plans.
