CHILDREN got their hands dirty this half-term as they went elbow-deep in flour.
The 20 children got stuck into a cookery workshop on Tuesday. It was part of a programme of events put on by The Lights and sponsored by St Gabriel’s School, Newbury, for children over the half-term week.
Zoe Rugg, cookery workshop leader, said: “The children love it. It’s very informative and they get really into it. It’s all beautifully presented for them to take home. We do it all the time and we get the same children coming back.”
Young cooks could have a go at making goods from all over the world, including Turkish delight jelly, Chinese dim sum and Italian bruschetta.
Other activities on offer over the week as part of the children’s festival – aimed at youngsters aged from two to 12 – included storytelling, fun drama sessions, a play in a day and dancing.
