ONCE again it’s time to begin the search which will lead to the crowning of Andover’s carnival prince and princess.

To set the wheels in motion the Andover Advertiser has arranged for all contestants to have their photographs taken by professional portrait photographer David Facey.

It all starts during the halfterm holidays when girls and boys aged between eight and 13 and who live within a tenmile radius of Andover are invited to go to the Chantry Centre where managers have kindly given permission for the event.

Photographs of all entrants will be published in the Andover Advertiser and all readers will be asked to vote for their favourite.

The 12 girls and six boys who receive most votes will go through to the final when a panel of judges will have the difficult task of selecting the royalty.

The Andover Advertiser will present both winners with a prize of £75, while the two attendants will receive £25. The prince and princess will also be treated to a family portrait by David Facey.

Details of the final will be published nearer the time when tickets will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On the day of the 2014 Andover Carnival the lucky foursome will ride at the head of the carnival procession.

The “royals” are also invited to other events which regularly feature in the pages of the Advertiser, and are local celebrities during their reign, and most thoroughly enjoy the experience which builds confidence.

The photographic sessions have been arranged for Wednesday and Thursday, 19 and 20 February between 10am and 4pm at a special stand in The Chantry Centre.

These sessions have been known to attract more than 100 hopefuls.

There is no need to make an appointment – just turn up on the day of your choice.

Entry forms are available on the stand.
