A CIVILIAN has been rewarded for his work supporting the front line in Afghanistan from his base in Andover.

Archie Hughes, chief executive of Defence Support Group (DSG), presented Dave Milsom with an Afghanistan Campaign Medal in recognition of his support to front line operations.

DSG operates the purpose-built Equipment Sustainability System Regeneration Capability workshop in Camp Bastion under contract from the MoD’s permanent joint headquarters.

The campaign medal honours the significant risk and rigour civilians face during their time in Camp Bastion providing vital equipment repair services to UK armed forces in theatre.

Dave, aged 35, from Ipswich, is based at DSG head office in Andover, and was presented with his medal at a ceremony held at DSG Donnington.

Dave deployed for 12 months as HR office manager, providing vital welfare support to deployees and maintaining management information.

Speaking at the presentation, Archie said: “DSG employees who deploy to Camp Bastion leave their family and friends to work in a very harsh environment supporting our troops.

“I thank all our employees for their commitment.

“I am very proud of them all for deploying and know that they will wear their medals with pride.”
