RESIDENTS are being encouraged to have their say on proposals for a new urban sports facility at Smannell Road, Roman Way.

Test Valley Borough Council has posted letters outlining the plans to all residents located within 200 metres of the site.

However, as delivery of the facility is subject to planning permission and the appointment of a contractor, details of the design are yet to be agreed.

The leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Ian Carr, said: “It is important that local residents have their say on proposals for the new facility.

“We hope this will be a fantastic facility for users and we want to make sure that the plans are sensitive to local residents.”

To submit feedback visit testvalley.gov.uk/consultationportal.

The initial consultation period will close on 7 February.

Following a review of expressions of interest, five shortlisted skate park developers have been invited to submit detailed designs by the end of January.

To help inform evaluation and decisions, a user group of BMX, scooter and skateboard enthusiasts will then look at the plans and choose which they prefer at a meeting on Sunday, 2 February.

Anyone wishing to be part of the user group is asked to contact Sarah-Jane Partner on 01264 368069 or email spartner@ testvalley.gov.uk.

Spaces are limited and all age groups and urban sport disciplines must be represented.

Subject to planning consent, it is hoped that the new facility will be delivered by this summer.
