A TIDWORTH man was left shaken and needing hospital treatment for a cut following an incident in the centre of the town on 29 December.

Detectives in Salisbury have issued an appeal for information following the attempted robbery which took place in the early hours.

The victim, a 32 year old local man, was walking along the footpath between St Andrews Road and Lowa Road. He was pushed into the perimeter fence of Tidworth Camp by a man who held a sharp implement to his face. The man demanded that the victim empty his pockets.

A second man stood watching whilst the incident was happening and when nothing was found the two men ran off together towards St Andrews Road.

The victim was shaken by the incident and suffered a cut to his face which required hospital treatment.

The first man is described as white, 5ft 11ins, with short, dark, messy hair and stubble.

He was of average build and aged in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing a black coat and dark coloured jeans.

The second man was white, a few inches taller than the first man and slightly younger.

He was of slim build and was wearing a dark coloured top, blue jeans, and white trainers.

A police spokeswoman said: “This incident is being taken very seriously and local officers are conducting extra patrols in the area.”

DC Sarah Chaplin is appealing for anyone who was in the area during the early hours of Sunday 29 December to come forward.

She would also like to speak to anyone with information on the identity of the man pictured in the efit.

Anyone with information should contact DC Chaplin at Salisbury Police Station on 101.
