Scam warning in Andover

POLICE are warning people about a scam where motorists are flagged down at the side of main roads and asked for money.

There have been two incidents this week in Andover and Basingstoke.

At about 11am on Tuesday, 17 December, a woman was flagged down on the slip road of the M3 at junction 6 by a man asking for money for fuel. She stopped and spoke to him and he tried to give her a ring and asked for money.

Around the same time on Wednesday, 18 December, a man was flagged down on the slip road of the A303 near Picket Twenty. A man with an Audi A4 car, which was either purple or maroon, asked for money for fuel.

Motorists are advised to report any such incidents on 101.
