Caroline joins major TA event

A FORMER Test Valley school pupil originally from Grateley joined other Territorial Army soldiers from across the UK in a major training event on Salisbury Plain.
Exercise Southern Bluebell took place over the weekend of the 18-20 October with the aim of updating the knowledge and competency of their trade.
Caroline Cohen, pictured, now lives in East Grinstead and works as a solicitor having grown up in Grateley.
She said: “Southern Bluebell is an important date in the REME reserve calendar as it gives the opportunity for different REME tradesmen from different battalions to come together to train.
“It was great to see how many turned up at the weekend especially how many armourers were there as we tend to be few and far between.
“The training that was laid on was of very high quality; we were provided with a range of weapons systems from sniper rifle to Minimi and mortars.
“We were lucky enough to have some regular instructors join us to assist in training and this meant we were able to train with one instructor between two of us, this means we got lots of hands on time with the weapons.
“The partnership between the regulars and reserves is very important.”
