ANDOVER TV presenter and model Katie Piper, who was the victim of a horror acid attack, is expecting a child.
The presenter, who met her current boyfriend two years ago, suffered terrible injuries, including partial blindness, during the attack by an ex partner.
It happened in 2008, while working as a model when spurned ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, arranged for acid to be thrown in her face.
Since the attack Katie, who lived in Andover, has undergone more than 40 operations and was the subject of a documentary which saw her sight restored in her left eye.
Katie broke the news to her followers on Twitter, of which there are over 214,000, on Saturday which said: “You’ve all supported me through bad times so I wanted to share some good news with you.
“I’m thrilled to say I’m expecting my first child!”
Katie, 30, who set up a charity called The Katie Piper Foundation for burns victims, said of the happy news: “I've always known that I have wanted children but there were moments after what happened to me that I never thought this would happen, I never believed this would be my future.
She added: “It's beyond incredible.
“It's because I'm so happy about it that it's been so hard keeping quiet and I'm actually relieved to be able to tell everyone.”
Katie’s foundation suggested, however, that rather than sending cards or presents to its founder, people could donate to the charity instead.
