Super slimmer is off to competition
12:00pm Sunday 1st September 2013 in News
AFTER losing three-and-ahalf stone and winning a slimming competition, the only thing that’s big about one Tidworth woman nowadays is her beaming smile.
Rachael Fenwick lost weight with her local Tidworth Slimming World group and has dropped from 13 stones 13lbs to 10 stones six lbs in just eight months and been voted the group’s ‘Woman of the Year 2013’.
Rachael will now be their representative in the regional competition.
“I started to put on weight when I first moved to Germany with my husband in 2008,” she said “I was away from home and friends and began to comfort eat when Chris was away for long periods of time.
“When in Germany, I felt that I had lost my identity as a lot of military wives do and after much thought and with the full support of my husband and family, I moved back to the UK to follow my dream of becoming a midwife.
“I found studying and bringing my two boys up alone a highly stressful experience without my husband around for moral support.
“I tried to be good but could never stick to anything as the night shift cake and sweet temptations were always ready and waiting to test my will power.”
The turning point for Rachael was when she saw a photograph of herself at a mess function.
“I’ve gone from a size 16 to a 10 /12 and it’s made such a huge difference – it’s changed my life,” she added.
Rachael will go forward to the regional finals, putting her in the running for the national title which will see the winner take home a £5,000 cash prize.
