A SIX-week consultation period for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s draft local plan is now under way.
The plan identifies where new development will take place, how new jobs will be supported and how the environment of the borough will be protected and enhanced.
It allows for 748 new homes per year to be built up to 2029 to meet the borough’s needs.
New home building is proposed to focus primarily on Basingstoke but lower levels of development have also been focused in other settlements including Overton and Whitchurch.
For Overton the plan states that it needs to take on 270 houses during the plan period between 2011 and 2029 including 120 at Overton Hill and an additional 150 homes to be decided through a Neighbourhood Plan.
In Whitchurch the plan is for approximately 350 homes including 150 homes south of Bloswood Lane and a further 200 homes also to be decided through a Neighbourhood Plan.
The closing date on the consultation for the Local Plan is the 4 October and exhibitions showing the plan are being held at Overton Community Centre between 2pm and 8pm on 16 September and at Whitchurch Parish Hall also between 2pm and 8pm on 17 September.
You can have your say and make comments to the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council by completing an online form or downloading a response form.
Public consultation for the Neighbourhood Plan in Whitchurch has also started and public meetings are taking place in the Parish Hall on 6 September between 7pm and 9pm and on 15 September between 11am and 1pm.
