Pupils get first taste of college

YEAR 10 students from every secondary school in Andover and a number from the surrounding areas have spent the day as further education college students.
Andover College has run a series of taster days designed to encourage the 14 and 15 y e a r olds to consider t h e i r f u t u r e beyond school, try their hand at s o m e - t h i n g new and experience studying at a higher level.
Around 860 students from Harrow Way Community School, John Hanson Community School, Pewsey Vale School, Stonehenge School, Test Valley School and Winton Community Academy were able to choose from 46 different workshops.
Whether looking to try their hand at ALevel chemistry experiments, get creative in the art and design studios or lay a track down in the recording studio, t h e r e w a s s o m e - t h i n g f o r eve r y - one.
K a y Doy l e , schools liaison of f icer f o r Andover College, said: “Much of my time is spent out in various secondary schools, meeting their students and introducing them to the various opportunities there are here at the college.
“As is often the case though, actually experiencing something first hand is more effective.”
