Firefighters called to Andover industrial estate

Basingstoke Gazette: By Dom Clarke By Dom Clarke

FIREFIGHTERS are at an Andover industrial estate, to make safe an acetylene cylinder.

The two crews from Andover and others from Stockbridge, Ludgershall, Whitchurch, Basingstoke and Winchester were called to Mitchell Close, in West Portway Industrial Estate, at 12.13pm today. (10)

A 50 metre exclusion zone is in place, because of the explosion risk of the cylinder.

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said that the response is now being scaled down, with thermal imaging cameras being used.

It is thought that the exclusion zone will be in place for another few hours.
