Sex pest hunted
2:09pm Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Andover
DETECTIVES are hunting for a sex pest in Tidworth following an incident earlier this week in which a woman was assaulted.
Just after midnight on Monday the victim, a 31-year-old local woman, was walking along Wyle Road, Tidworth, from the direction of Kennet Road towards Ordnance Road.
As she passed the junction with Assheton Close a man approached her from behind and pushed her into a wall and attempted to sexually assault her.
Fortunately she was able to get away and the man ran off through a nearby play park.
The man is described as approximately 5 ft 9ins in height, wearing a grey hooded top and dark coloured track suit bottoms. He also had white soled shoes.
DS Jim Stannard said: “We are keen to identify anyone who witnessed the incident and speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault.
“It may be that they didn't see the assault but heard something or saw the man running from the scene.
“Incidents such as this are rare in Tidworth but we need the assistance of the public to help identify this man and potentially prevent any further incidents.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Stannard at Salisbury CID on 101 ext 723528.
