Arson in Andover

POLICE are appealing for information after an arson attack in Andover.

At some time between 12.30am and 1am on Tuesday, 5 March a fire was started in a wheelie bin in Mylen Road. This destroyed the bin and two fence panels.

Pc Amanda Lockey said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the offence to come forward and speak to us.

“Did you witness any suspicious activity in the area or did you see anyone hanging around?

“Did you see anyone near to or playing around with any bins in the area?

“I would urge anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant they feel the details may be, to contact the police.

“The fire could have easily got out of control and had more severe consequences.

“As always, I would ask residents to be mindful when placing their bins out for collection and ensure they are not put near anything that could easily catch fire.”

Anyone with information should contact Pc Lockey at Andover police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
