Armed forces homes

TEST Valley Borough Council’s Cabinet is expected to adopt a new revised scheme of allocations when housing homeless people that gives priority to armed forces personnel.

The new scheme, due to be introduced in April, will be discussed by the Cabinet on Wednesday in Romsey.

In the report, which will be presented by housing, health and communities portfolio holder Sandra Hawke, the Cabinet will be informed of the new scheme of allocations.

The report says that “applications from armed forces personnel will be awarded reasonable preference under the scheme”.

Councillors will also be able to house people in the private rented sector.
