STOCKBRIDGE residents were given further details of the plans to build 46 homes near Longstock at a recent public consultation event.

The town hall hosted the consultation, which was attended throughout the day by local residents and councillors, with draft displays of the project being shown.

David Wilson Homes and Aster Homes are behind the scheme which will see the houses erected, which will include affordable and shared equity properties near to Test Valley School.

The project also features a new school bus assess scheme for the numerous coaches and buses that run a service to and from the school.

Visitors were offered the chance to leave feedback and comments for the developers.

Julian Jones, development director at David Wilson homes said: “There is a massive need for affordable housing in this area, there are more than 80 families currently on the list for them.

“There will be 15 stops with coaches bringing children to and from the school from further afield.

“This bus station will only be open when dropping children off and picking them up and engines will be switched off while they wait, making this process safer than what is currently in place.

“We opened early for people to come in this morning and half the parish councillors weren’t really in favour but the other half that came in later on were in favour.”
