More Success for Andover Town Band
The youngsters and adult learners of the Andover Town Band have again been awarded the accolade of the Overall Best Band of the Day, at the Annual Wessex Youth and Training Band Contest, held at Trafalgar School in Downton on Sat 26th Jan 2013.
The competition saw bands travelling from as far as the City of Bath and the Isle of Wight, with very creditable musical performances from all bands. The Andover Town Band triumphed by winning the Training Band Section, with Adam Large presented with a Gold Certificate for his stunning solo item on the soprano cornet. Later in day, in the Ensemble Section, the youngsters of Andover Town Band pulled off an incredibly innovative and entertaining performance, also gaining the 1st place prize. To compliment these prizes , the band was also awarded the Best Hymn Tune Performance of the Day. The whole day was an exciting experience for all the youngsters and adult learners, and rewarding too for the dedicated team of trainers.
