Scary Guy is positive role model for kids

FOLLOWING his successful visit to Andover in October 2012, Scary Guy is set to return to Winton School in February for phase three of his inspirational programme.

The project, put together by former acting director of Testway, Ivor Evans, and local councillor Phil North, is designed to help students build their resilience by understanding that they do not have to take on the attitudes and comments of others.

Scary Guy has helped students to understand what bullying is and how they can deal with it.

As part of the programme, he addresses issues of antisocial behaviour and he helps the students see how this might happen, and how to avoid it, giving young people the tools to create positive behaviours through Scary’s innovative theories.

Winton pupils are already benefiting from Scary’s wisdom and have changed the way they think in negative situations.

Winton’s head teacher, Chris McShane was so impressed with the outcome of the first phase of the project he immediately took up the opportunity to welcome him back.

Scary will build on the workshops he delivered to pupils, parents and teachers in phase one and two by delivering the third piece of training, which will enable students to see that when someone else speaks, the words are a direct reflection of that person speaking.

Scary will show students exactly what to do in the moment that someone produces negative words.

Cllr Phil North said: “I am pleased this project is already having a positive impact amongst the pupils of Winton School.

“It is satisfying when the private and public sector come together.

“I thank Stannah, Hampshire Police, TVBC, Aster and Winton for supporting the project so far.”
