EXPERIENCED walker Jo Winchcombe is walking 90 miles round the white horses of Wiltshire to raise money for foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.
The White Horse Trail is a 90 mile walk taking in seven existing white horses cut into the Wiltshire escarpments, much of it set in areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Jo, who will be accompanied by support workers, said: “The walk will be completed over two days and will take around 30 hours to complete.
“The White Horse Trail is named for the chalk figures carved into the hills.
“Generally they stand out clear and bright and can be seen for many miles around and are probably best appreciated from a distance.
“It is, however, very rewarding to be able to stand on or nearby a white horse you have been walking towards for many miles.”
Jo, also known as the Arctic Mummy, is no stranger to distance walking, having raced 350 miles to the Magnetic North Pole in 2011 and completing the four day Nijmegen marches in The Netherlands twice.
The white horses walk will start and finish at Pewsey.
The route was created by Wiltshire County Council through Pewsey, Marlb o r o u g h , Hackpen and Devizes, providing views of seven white horses.
The route has been chosen to a p p r o a ch the horses from the best vantage points.
