Every little helps as Tesco staff 'cycle' to Lapland
TIDWORTH Tesco staff joined forces with colleagues across the UK to take part in a £1m festive fundraising weekend as they “Cycled to Lapland”.
For the first time all Tesco stores, head offices and distribution centres joined together to “Cycle to Lapland” and raise money for Cancer Research UK from Friday, 7 to Sunday, 9 December.
Staff from the Tidworth superstore shared stints on a static bicycle, clocking up enough miles to reach the home of Father Christmas.
Cancer Research UK is Tesco’s charity of the year for 2012 and the staff at the Tidworth store helped raise towards the overall fundraising target of £10m.
Tesco and Cancer Research UK will also be working together to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of cancer, reduce people’s anxiety about the disease and encourage them to visit the doctor if they notice anything unusual.
Money raised will help support 32 early diagnosis research projects.
