Man assaulted and robbed in Andover
10:00am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in Andover
POLICE are appealing for information after a man was robbed and assaulted in Andover.
At some time between 10.30pm and 10.45pm on Monday (29 October) the 19-year-old victim was walking along Vigo Road when he was approached by two men.
The men demanded the victim hand over his property. When the victim told them that he did not have anything, the men assaulted him by punching and kicking him in the head and face, leaving him with minor injuries.
All of the victim’s clothes were removed and the offenders then made off with the clothes in the direction of Granada Place.
Pc Edward Tyrie said: “This is an unusual incident in that when the victim told the offenders he did not have any property to handover to them, they assaulted him and removed all of his clothes.
“Fortunately the victim only received minor injuries as a result of the assault. This would have been a frightening ordeal for him.
“I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward. Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Did you see anyone matching these descriptions hanging around the area or making their way from the scene?
“I would urge anyone with any information, no matter how small, to come forward and speak to us and help us find the two people responsible.”
One of the men police would like to speak to is described as white, aged in his early 20s, about 5ft 10ins to 5.11ins, of a stocky build, a medium round face, had blond hair poking through his hood and was clean shaven. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood up, grey tracksuit bottoms that were a slim fit, a tattoo of a name on the left side of his neck and he spoke with a local accent.
The second man is described as white, aged in his early 20s, 5ft 8ins, of a skinny build and had stubble on his face. He was wearing a black zip up hooded top which was undone with the hood up and underneath he was wearing a dark coloured, possibly navy blue, jumper with white horizontal stripes, and black denim jeans, speaking with a local accent.
Anyone with any information should contact Pc Tyrie at Andover CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
