PUPILS from Rookwood’s Prep School were overjoyed this month when their recorder club received top marks in their “initial”

and Grade 1 Trinity music exams.

With three out of the seven pupils gaining an amazing 100 per cent score for their sightreading ability it was no surprise that music teacher Libbie Noakes said she was “absolutely delighted” – especially when the youngest member of the group, Patrick Gordon, aged eight, was invited to play at the high achiever’s concert.

A bumper crop of six merits and one distinction left all the young musicians smiling with headmistress Louise Whetstone, praising the children for their hard work and dedication.
